Grön onsdag: Nerdlacquer Webinarmy
Lite sådär i sista minuten tänkte jag ansluta till grön onsdag, och självklart blir det med en Nerd. Webinarmy är ett jättevackert smaragdgrönt glitterlack med en nästan metallisk bas och glitter i olika storlekar och olika gröna nyanser. Jag bar tre lager och det var lätt att applicera. Tyvärr finns det inte att köpa från Amandas webshop längre.
Dekalerna har jag fått för recension från Born Pretty Store. Tyvärr var de lite för tjocka och stela för att vilja ligga helt slätt på nageln, och jag blev inte helt nöjd med resultatet. Mönstret är fint, men det är nog bättre att klippa ut delar av dekalen än att försöka täcka hela nageln med den, i alla fall om man har väldigt kurviga naglar, som jag. Ni kan använda min kod WDL91 för att få 10% rabatt om ni beställer från Born Pretty Store. (Var bara medvetna om att frakttiderna är väldigt långa eftersom siten ligger i Asien.)
Och som en bonus så matchade nagellacket mina fina gröna skor som jag hade på mina masterstudenters examensceremoni! Skorna är från ModCloth och finns inte i sortimentet längre, men de har många andra fina skor mm!
In English: I thought I would join Green Wednesday at the last minute, and of course with a Nerd. Webinarmy is a gorgeous green glitter with an almost metallic emerald green base and glitter in different sizes and different shades of green. I wore three coats and it was easy to apply. Sadly, it is not available from Amanda’s web shop anymore.
The decals were sent to me for review from Born Pretty Store. Unfortunately, they were a bit too thick and stiff to be flat on my nails and I weren’t entirely happy with the result. The pattern is pretty, but I think it is probably better to cut out parts of it than trying to cover the whole nail, at least if you have very curved nails, as I do. You can use my code WDL91 for 10% off at the site. (Just be aware that the shipping times are very long since the store is in Asia.)
And as a bonus, the polish matched my pretty green shoes that I wore to my master students’ graduation ceremony! The shows are from ModCloth, and even if these aren’t available anymore, they have lots of other nice shoes and stuff.
Grön onsdag: Nerdlacquer Thistledown
Alltså, Trump som president i USA!? Det var ju verkligen inte ett kul besked att mötas av när man vaknade. Jag vill mest av allt bara dra täcket över huvudet i fyra år, men eftersom det inte riktigt går så försöker jag istället peppa mig med att posta den här manikyren som jag bar när jag och maken var på vår europaresa i somras, närmare bestämt under de sista två dagarna på resan som vi tillbringade med sol och bad i polska Sopot (eller tja, det där med sol är inte riktigt sant eftersom vi gömde oss från den under ett parasoll). Thistledown är knallgrönt och glittrigt och rätt knasigt, precis vad man kan behöva en sån här dag! Jag blev faktiskt så förtjust i det att jag har köpt en egen flaska av det efter att jag bar det (jag hade bara en dekant från Karin). Som vanligt med nerdar täckte det på två lager, var lätt att applicera och höll bra.
Dekoren var jag lite tveksam till då – det blev kanske lite för många vita blomklistermärken och gav ett lätt hysteriskt intryck. Men just nu känns hysteriskt glada manikyrer som precis vad man behöver!

In English: Seriously, Trump as president in the US!? That was really not a fun thing to wake up to. I mostly just want to pull the covers over my head for four years, but since I can’t really do that, I try to cheer myself up by posting this manicure from mine and my husband’s Europe vacation this summer. I wore it at the end of the vacation, during the last day that we spent bathing an hiding from the sun under a parasol in Sopot, Poland. Thistledown is brightly green and glittery and pretty crazy – just what is needed on a day like this! I actually liked it so much that I bought a fullsized bottle after I wore it (I only had a decant that I had gotten from Karin before). As usual with nerds, it was easy to apply, opaque in two coats and lasted a long time.
I didn’t quite like the nail art when I wore it – there were a bit too many white flower stickers and gave a slightly hysterical impression – but right now it feels just right with a hysterically cheerful mani!

Depend Rewind 501
Hm, den här manikyren hade jag faktiskt glömt bort! 501 var ett av de första lacken jag bar ur Depends Rewindkollektion. Det är svart i basen med smått lila glitter, som tyvärr har lite svårt att ta sig fram genom den svarta basen. Det ser mest svart ut på nageln, vilket är lite trist. Jag bar två lager av det och det var lite tjockare och svårare att applicera än de andra Dependlacken jag har testat, men fortfarande bra.
Dekorationerna är också från Depend. Folien fäste bra, men limmet till den kommer i en sjukt opraktisk liten tub med en liten pinne att applicera med, så det enda man kan göra med det är egentligen att stryka ut det i oregelbundna stråk. Det är lite synd, för när man har en pensel till sitt lim kan man göra så mycket skoj med nagelfolie. Dekalerna var lite tjocka, vilket gjorde att kanterna syntes efter att de var applicerade, vilket jag tycker är lite sådär. De var också lite för klistriga, vilket gjorde dem svåra att applicera eftersom de sög sig fast väldigt snabbt. På det stora hela tycker jag ändå att det blev en helt ok manikyr, även om jag inte var 100% lycklig över vare sig lacket eller dekorationerna.

In English: Hm, I had actually forgotten about this manicure! 501 was one of the first polishes I wore from the Depend Rewind collection. It consists of a black base with small purple glitters, that unfortunately get a bit drowned in the base. It mostly looks black on the nail, which is a little sad. I wore two coats and it was a little thicker and harder to apply than the other Depend polishes I have, but the application was still good.
The decorations are also from Depend. The foil was easy to apply, but the foil glue comes in a terribly impractical little tube with as stick that you are supposed to use to apply it with, so the only thing you can do is to dab it on unevenly. It is a pity, really. If you get a brush with your nail glue, you can do a lot of fun things with nail art foil. The decals were a bit thick and the edges were visible even after topcoating them. They were also very sticky, which made them a bit difficult to apply since there was no chance at al to move them once they had touched the nail even the slightest. But on the whole, I kinda liked this manicure even if I wasn’t 100% happy with either the polish or the decorations.

Halloweenmanikyr över F.U.N Lacquer Queen
Vi kör väl på med en Halloweenmanikyr till! Jag har faktiskt haft Halloweentema på naglarna i nästan två veckor nu, men det har varit lite för mycket på jobbet för att jag skulle ha ork att blogga, så de kommer ut först nu. Basen till den här manikyren är F.U.N Lacquer Queen, ett supertjusigt prismatiskt metalliskt silverflakie som täcker på två lager utan problem. Nagelvinylerna är från She Sells Seashells (spindelnät och fladdermöss) respektive Loki’s Lacquer (svarta holospindlar). Över spindelnätsvinylerna svampade jag på svarta OPI Who Are You Calling Bossy?!? och mörkgråa Kiko 326. Tanken med att blanda svart och grått var att det skulle se lite dammigt ut, men det blev liksom inget av det och det hade varit bättre med bara svart. Men tja, glammigt blev det ju i alla fall!
In English: So, lets run with another Halloween mani! I have actually had a Halloween theme on my nails for almost two weeks now, but I have had so much at work and not enough energy to blog, so I haven’t gotten around to posting them until now. The base colour for this mani is F.U.N Lacquer Queen, a super fancy prismatic metallic silver flakie that is opaque in two problem-free coats. The nail vinyls are from She Sells Seashells (spiderwebs and bats) and Loki´s Lacquer (black holo spiders). I used the black OPI Who Are You Calling Bossy!?! and the dark grey Kiko 326 over the spiderweb vinyls. The thought with mixing black and grey was to make it look sort of dusty, but that failed and I think it would have been better to stick to only black. But well, it was definitely glam, at least!
ILNP Absolute Zero
Vi tar väl och kör ett gammalt arkivinlägg igen. Det här är från 2014 och mitt mål är att jag inte ska ha några inlägg i arkivet från 2014 kvar när 2016 är över. Vi får se hur det går…
ILNP gör många spektakulära, jätteläckra lack, men det här är inte ett av dem. Det är mörkblått med en liten, liten aning holo, men knappt så det syns. Det täckte på två lager och var ganska lättlackat, men det hjälps inte – det här får inte mitt hjärta att slå snabbare, även om det är helt ok. Dekalerna är från Nailshop och är fina, men inte heller de är spektakulära. Det här är väl lite av en mellanmanikyr, helt enkelt.
In English: Let’s take another polish from the archive, shall we? This is from 2014 and my goal is to have published all my drafts from 2014 before 2016 is over. We’ll see how it goes…
ILNP makes many spectacular and gorgeous polishes, but this isn’t one of them. It is dark blue with a touch of holo, but the holo is very discreet and quite difficult to spot. It was opaque in two coats and was pretty easy to apply, but it can’t be helped – this does not make my heart beat faster, although it is perfectly alright. The stickers are from Nailshop and they are pretty, but as the polish, they are not spectacular. I guess this mani was just one of those in-between manis that everybody has.
CND Vinylux Denim Patch
Denim Patch är det andra lacket jag har fått som pressprov från CNDs höstkollektion Craft Culture som lanserades i augusti. Det är ett jättefint gråblått krämlack. Mjukt och fint i färgen, och väldigt snyggt till jeans! Det var en aning rinnigt att applicera, men inte så det var ett problem, och det täckte lätt på två lager.
Strassen är klistermärken från Depend, som jag också har fått som pressprov. En enkel manikyr, men jag trivs bra i den!
In English: Denim Patch is the second of the press samples I have gotten from the CND autumn collection Craft Culture, that was released in August. It is a very pretty greyish blue creme. Very soft and nice, and goes especially well with jeans! It was slightly runny to apply, but not so much that it was a problem, and it was easily opaque in two coats.
The rhinestones are stickers that I have gotten as press samples from Depend. It is a simple manicure, but I liked it!
Gradient med Depend Holo Fantasy
Mer lack från Depends Holo Fantasy-kollektion! Jag tror faktiskt att jag aldrig har använt så många lack ur en kollektion så fort. Men så är de ju riktigt härliga också! Till den här manikyren använde jag tre av dem; 5036 Sweet Elves (orange), 5038 Pegasus Girl (rosa) och 5039 Dungeons & Goddesses (lila). Som bas hade jag ett lager Sweet Elves, som var lika trevlig att lacka med som de andra lacken i kollektionen.
Jag blev faktiskt enormt nöjd med den här manikyren, om jag får säga det själv! Lacken gick väldigt fint ihop med varandra och holot gav en jättefin glöd i färgerna utan att dränka dem i regnbågar. Tanken med manikyren (som ni förhoppningsvis kan lista ut själva) är att det ska se ut som en solnedgång, och jag använde några dekaler från YouPolish till fåglarna och grenarna. Jag gillar verkligen dekalerna, de är mjuka och följsamma – och väldigt fina!
Lacken är pressprover, men dekalerna har jag köpt själv.
In English: More polishes from the Depend Holo Fantasy collection! I honestly don’t think I have ever worn this many polishes from a collection this quickly. But then they are so very pretty! For this manicure I used three of them; 5036 Sweet Elves (orange), 5038 Pegasus Girl (pink) and 5039 Dungeons & Goddesses (purple). The base is one coat of Sweet Elves, that applied like a dream – just like the other polished in the collection.
I am actually extremely happy with this manicure! The polishes went very well together and the holo gave the gradient an amazing glow without drowning it in rainbows. The thought was to make it look like a sunset, so I also added some bird and branch decals from Youpolish. I really liked the decals, they were very soft and pliable – and pretty!

Holofredag: Depend Holo Fantasy Night Potion (5043)
Som så många andra kör jag ett lack från Depends kommande Holo Fantasy-kollektion till veckans inofficiella holofredag. Night Potion är ett mörkgrått hololack med fina, om än inte superstarka, regnbågar. Det här är nog ett av de lacken med starkast holoeffekt i kollektionen, och det har en riktigt fin, mättad färg. Jag bar två lager och det gled på utan problem. Dekoren består av strass och en dekal från Depend – inte så avancerat, men jag trivdes bra i det. Både lacket och dekoren är pressprover.
In English: As many others, I am showing a polish from the coming Depend Holo Fantasy collection for this week’s unofficial Holo Friday. Night Potion is a dark grey holo with nice, if not super strong, rainbows. I think this is one of the polishes with the strongest holo in the collection, and the colour is nice and saturated. I wore two coats and it applied like a dream. The decoration is rhinestones and a decal from Depend – not that advanced, but I liked it. Both the polish and the decorations are press samples.
Holofredag: Depend Holo Fantasy 5040 Unicorn Dream
Till veckans holofredag hos Sminkan och Emma visar jag ett av lacken från Depends kommande Holo Fantasy-kollektion, som jag har fått som pressprov. Det är ett väldigt fint blålila lack med en diskret holoskimmer. Det är väl ärligt talat knappt så mycket holo att jag skulle kalla det ett hololack, men det finns lite fint holoskimmer i det som ger det ett härligt djup. Och färgen är verkligen läcker! Jag bar två lager och det var problemfritt att applicera.

In English: For this week’s holo Friday at Sminkan and Emma, I’m showing one of the polished from the coming Holo Fantasy collection from Depend, that I have gotten as a press sample. It is a really nice blurple with a discreet holo shimmer. It is honestly almost not holo enough to qualify as a holo polish, but it does contain a fine holo shimmer that gives it a lovely depth. And it really has a wonderful colour! I wore two coats and the application was easy.
The sticker is also a press sample from Depend.
Nail art med OPI Washington DC och nailart från Depend
Juni var en bra månad ur pressprovssynpunkt – dels fick jag OPIs Washington DC-kollektion och så en hel låda med nail art från Depend på det. Det är svårt att låta bli att bli inspirerad av det, och en av manikyrerna som dessa resulterade i är den här geometiriska 70-talsinspirerade saken. Det är normalt inte alls min stil, men jag tyckte om den ändå.
Basen är tre lager av OPI Freedom of Peach, ett fint brun-orange krämlack, som dock var ganska besvärligt att applicera. Det ville gärna valla sig och bli ojämnt, men efter tredje lagret så såg det rätt bra ut. Jag maskade av med nagelvinyler från Depends nya Stripe your nails-kit och applicerade sedan OPI Shh… It’s Top Secret! (mörkbrunt) och Squeaker of the House (kall mellanbrun). Vinylerna är faktiskt helt suveräna! De är mjuka, tunna och följsamma, lagom klistriga och stadiga nog att inte gå sönder. På det applicerade jag en liten strass på pekfingret från Nail Rhinestones kitet. (Den lilla pinnen med plasttipp som följde med är f ö mycket smidig att att plocka upp småsaker med!) Randen med strass är en dekal från ett av klistermärkeskiten.
In English: June was a very good month from a press sample prespective – first I got the OPI Washington DC collection and then a whole box of nail art from Depend. It is hard not to be inspired by that, and one of the manicures that I made with those is this geometric seventies inspired thing. It is normally not my style at all, but I liked it anyways.
The base is three coats of OPI Freedom of Peach, a nice brownish orange creme, that was pretty difficult to apply. It was uneven and not very cooperative, but it looked ok after the third coat. I then used nail vinyls from the Depend Stripe your Nails kit and applied OPI Shh… It’s Top Secret! (dark brown) and Squeaker of the House (cold medium brown). The vinyls worked like a dream! They are soft, thin and pliable, just sticky enough and sturdy enough not to break. On that I applied a rhinestone from the Nail Rhinestones kit. (And the little plastic-tipped stick that is included in the kit is really good for that.) The line of rhinestones is actually a sticker from one of the sticker kits.
