Turtle Tootsie Polishes Sir Paul
Det blir mycket Depend här på bloggen, men jag köper faktiskt en del lack också, helst då lite roliga indielack. Ett roligt sätt att testa nya indiemärken är de olika sidorna som släpper indielack från olika märken varje månad, som t ex Hella Handmade Creations eller Polish Pickup. Just det här lacket köpte jag från Hella Handmade Creations i januari. Det är ett lite ovanligt termolack som är grönt när det är varmt och skiftar till lila när det är kallt. I mellanstadiet är det lite mer dämpat grått. Det har också små guldflakies och holoskimmer. Jättefint! Dessutom skiftar det i rumstemperatur, så jag hade en fin gradient när jag bara gick runt hemma i lägenheten. Det täckte på tre lager och var lätt att applicera.
Jag kunde dock inte riktigt hålla mig ifrån att stämpla lite på det och försökte plocka upp den lila färgen med ett blålila stämplingslack från Born Pretty Store och motiv från Twirls & Swirls 02-plattan från Lina Nail Art Supplies.
In English: I am aware that there is a lot of Depend polishes on this blog, but I do buy some polishes as well, and when I do, I prefer indie polishes. One nice way of trying out new indie brands is the sites that release different indie polishes each month, like Hella Handmade Creations and Polish Pickup. I bought this polish from Hella Handmade Creations las January. It is a unique thermal polish that is green when warm and shifts to purple through grey. It also has small gold flakes and holo shimmer. Beautiful! I like that it shifts at room temperature, so I had a nice gradient just when I was walking around at home. It covered in three coats and was easy to apply.
I could resist stamping on it, so I tried to pick up the purple colour by stamping with a blueish purple stamping polish from Born Pretty Store using the Twirls & Swirls 02 plate from Lina Nail Art Supplies.
Holofredag: Nfu Oh 65
Det blir lätt väldigt mycket fokus på alla nya lack, och egentligen tycker jag att det är rätt synd. Jag har så många fina lack som ligger i lågorna och aldrig blir använda. (Plus att man egentligen uppmanar till väldigt mycket onödig konsumtion.) Häromdagen skrev Emelie (Vintertroll) på sin blogg och instagram att hon funderar på att köra en lack-genom-åren på bloggen och jag tänkte haka på.
Den första gamla favoriten som fick komma fram ur gömmorna är det här supervackra hololacket från Nfu Oh, nummer 65, som jag har haft sedan 2009, men faktiskt inte skrivit om tidigare. Jag har bloggat om syskonen 61 och 66, men det kan faktiskt vara så att jag senast bar det här innan jag började blogga (alltså för över åtta år sedan). Det passar dessutom extra bra att ta fram det nu så jag kan vara med på årets sista holofredag hos Sminkan och Emma!
Lacket då? Det är som sagt väldigt vackert och det här är vad holo är när holo är som bäst. Regnbågarna är inte blyga av sig utan syns i alla ljus och i solsken blir man helt knockad av dem. Hololacken från NFu Oh (i alla fall de som fanns då) är ganska lika. Just det här är ljusblått och de andra är också ljusa. På den här tiden var de flesta hololack väldigt ljusa och silvriga eftersom holot dränktes i mörkare färger.
Som de flesta gamla hololack kan det här vara ordentligt holosjukt (alltså svårt att få jämnt), så jag använde Nfu Ohs Aqua base som underlack. Det funkade bra, och lacket gled på riktigt fint. Det täckte faktiskt ganska bra på ett lager, men eftersom de här gamla hololacken kan bli lite dämpade av överlack så la jag på ett överlack över första lagret holo och toppade sedan med ytterligare ett lager holo för att få maximalt med regnbågar men ändå någon slags hållbarhet. Efter två dagar hade jag lite tip wear. Jag hade nog kunnat haft det en dag till, men hade precis fått pressproverna på Depends Miss Robot-kollektion, så då bytte jag ändå lack. (Och föll tillbaka i fokuset på det nya…)
In English: There is so much focus on new polishes, and in one way, I think it is a pity. I have so many beautiful polises that are never used (and it also encourages a lot of unnecessary consumption). The other day, I read that Emelie (Vintertroll) wrote on her blog and instagram that she thought about doing a ”polishes through the years” thing on her blog, and I would like to join in that.
The first old favourite to be brought from the stash is this beautiful holo from Nfu Oh, number 65, that I have owned since 2009, but not blogged about earlier. I did blog about its siblings 61 and 66, but I might have worn this before I started blogging (so more than eight years ago). It is also extra suitable to bring it out again now so I can show it for this year’s last holo Friday with Sminkan och Emma!
So, what about the polish? As I said, it is very beautiful and this is holo at it’s best. These rainbows are not shy and are visible even indoors. They are stunning in sunlight! The Nfu Oh holos (at least those that existed then) are quite similar. This one is light blue and the others are also very pale. Most holos at that time were very pale and silvery since the holo was drowned by darker colours.
As most old holos this can be quite difficult to get even, so I used the Nfu Oh Aqua Base and it glided on nicely. It was almost opaque in one coat, but since these old holos can get dulled by top coats, I added first one coat of top coat and then another of the holo. This way, I got maximal rainbows but still decent longevity. I had a bit of tip wear after two days. I could have worn it another day, but since I had gotten press samples of the new Depend Miss Robot collection, I changed polishes anyways. (And ironically started focussing on the new again…)
Holo Friday: ILNP My Private Rainbow (X) over Masura The Universe
Idag är det holofredag hos Sminkan och Emma igen, en av de sista för i år. Det har faktiskt inte blivit så mycket hololack för mig den här sommaren, så det får bli en manikyr som jag bar för några månader sedan.
Basen är ett blått magnetiskt lack från Masura med glest holoskimmer. Jag bar två lager av det, och det var inte så jättekul att lacka med eftersom det var ganska tjockt och gärna ville bli lite randigt. Den magnetiska effekten var inte jättestark, men den syntes i alla fall. Holoeffekten var däremot lite mesig, så jag toppade med ett lager ILNP My Private Rainbow (X). Det är ett jättefint, glest hologlitter som jag tycker piffade upp manikyren avsevärt.
In English: Today is Holo Friday with Sminkan och Emma again, one of the last this year. I haven’t worn that many holos this summer, so I will show you a manicure that I wore a couple of months ago.
The base is a blue magnetic polish from Masura with a sparse holo shimmer. I wore two coats of it, but the application was not much fun since it was quite thick and had a tendency to show brush strokes. The magnetic effect was not too strong, but clearly visible. The holo was rather weak, though, so I topped it with a coat of ILNP My Private Rainbow (X). It is a lovely, sparse holo glitter that I think spiced up the manicure considerably

Holo Friday: Dollish Polish A Galaxy Far, Far Away
Men det är ju holofredag! Jag har helt kommit ur bloggrutinerna på sistone, men nu har jag ju faktiskt tid att klämma ur mig ett litet holofredaginlägg. A Galaxy Far, Far Away släpptes i begränsad upplaga i samband med att Star Wars The Force Awakens kom 2015. Jag kastade mig över datorn och klickade hem det innan det tog slut (vilket gick rätt fort) – och lämnade det sedan orört på min hylla i tre år. 😛 Det är synd, för det är ett riktigt läckert lack! Det har en svart bas, som är tillräckligt opak för att täcka på tre lager och bli riktigt svart, men också tillräckligt transparent för att låta alla fina prismatiska glitter glittra igenom. Det har också några små stjärnglitter, men de är så glesa att inget hamnade på mina naglar. Det här är ett av de bästa svarta prismatiska glitterlacken jag har testat!
In English: I almost missed that it’s Holo Friday! I have lost my blogging routines lately, but now I actually have time to post a holo Friday mani. A Galaxy Far, Far Away was released in as a limited edition polish in connection with the premiere of the Star Wars The Force Awakens movie in 2015. I threw myself over the computer to get it before it sold out (which it did pretty quickly) – and then left it untouched on a shelf for three years. 😛 It is a pity, because it is a gorgeous polish. It has a black base, which is opaque enough to cover in three coats and transparent enought to let all the lovely prismatic glitters shine through it. It also has a few small star glitters, but they are so scarce that none of them ended up on my nails. This is one of the best black prismatic glitter polished that I’ve tried!
Holo Friday: My Sweden Rock manicure with Shleee Polish I Love Rock N’ Roll
Givetvis var jag tvungen att köpa Schlee Polish I Love Rock N’ Roll när jag såg det (jag norpade den sista flaskan) och givetvis var jag tvungen att ha det på Sweden Rock! Det innehåller ju gitarrformade glitter! Eftersom det också innehåller prismatiskt mikroglitter och lite större duokroma glitter som skiftar mellan grönt och orange så tycker jag att det kan få kvalificera mig till veckans holofredag.
Givetvis var det svårt att få med glittren och jag fick fiska en del, men vad annat kunde man förvänta sig? Jag hade faktiskt ett extra lager utan gitarrglitter också, eftersom man aldrig kan få för mycket glitter.
Jag ville ha ett lack under som gjorde att alla gitarrer syntes och jag hade inte mycket tid att välja, så jag ryckte bara åt mig ljusgråa 560 från Depends Spotted In Line-kollektion (ett pressprov, för övrigt). Vid närmare eftertanke hade det nog varit roligare med något mer färgglatt. Det täckte på två lager, tror jag, och var bra att applicera. Jag gjorde den här manikyren i en dåligt upplyst husbil sent efter Ozzys konsert (och ett par öl) på fredagen, så det blev ärligt talat ganska slarvigt målat. (Tur att lacket var så ljust att det inte syntes.) Sedan fick jag måla naglarna på en av min mans kompisar också. Han fick knallgröna naglar med gitarrer på, och det var ärligt talat mycket roligare än mina gråa! Tyvärr hann jag inte fota hans naglar innan han hade pillat bort lacket…
Den senaste tiden har det inte varit mycket andrum, så det har inte blivit mycket bloggat. Först så hade jag en präktig arbetstopp på jobbet. Mina masterstudenter lämnade in sina exjobb, så jag hade nio dagar på mig att läsa och kommentera 16 uppsatser. Det går, men det blir ingen tid över till annat än att sova och äta. Sedan var det redovisningar av exjobben, tätt följt av Iron Maidenkonsert, examensceremoni, min svägerskas 40-årsfest och hysteriskt jobb för att få ut återkoppling till studenterna och försöka komma ikapp lite med allt annat på jobbet innan det bar iväg till Sweden Rock. Och i söndags efter att vi kom hem blev jag förkyld och har varit präktigt förkyld hela veckan. Nu börjar jag komma på fötter, och imorgon bär det av till Prag och Salzburg med maken! Mycket roliga saker (förutom förkylningen), men inte mycket luckor. Det ska bli skönt att komma till Prag. Det är nog tionde gången jag är där, så det blir ganska avslappnat och fritt från måsten.
Förresten – är det någon som vill se lite bilder från Sweden Rock? Det var en himla kul festival och det blir nog fler besök (det här var första gången jag var där)!
In English: As soon as I saw Shleee Polish I Love Rock N’ Roll I knew that I had to get it and that I had to wear it at the Sweden Rock Festival! It has guitar shaped glitters! And since it also has prismatic microglitters and green to orange shifting duochrome glitters, I consider this holo enough to qualify to this week’s Holo Friday.
The glitters were of course difficult to get on the brush and I had to fish for them, but that was expected. I also added a second coat without the guitar shaped glitters just because you can never have too much glitter.
I wanted a base that made all the guitars show and I didn’t have much time to choose, so I just grabbed the light grey 560 from the Depend Spotted In Line collection (a press sample, btw). In hindsight, it would probably have been more fun with a more colourful base. It did cover in two coats, though, and the application was good. I did this mani in a poorly lit motor home late after Ozzys show (and a couple of beers) so it wasn’t my best paint job. Lucky the polish was so light that it didn’t show. I also got to paint the nails of one of my husbands friends. He got a bright green polish under his guitars and that was much more fun than the grey! Unfortunately, he picked off the polish before I got around to take a picture, so there is no photographic evidence…
The last weeks have been kind of crazy for me, so there hasn’t been much time for the blog. First I had a peak at work. My master students handed in their theses, and I had nine days to read and grade 16 thesis. It is possible, but it doesn’t leave any time for anything else than eating and sleeping. Then we had the thesis presentations followed by an Iron Maiden concert, the graduation ceremony, my sister-in-laws 40th birthday party and then some hysterical work to be able to get the feedback to the students and catch up on everything before we went off to Sweden Rock. And I of course got a bad cold as soon as I came home again, so I have been ill this whole week. I am getting better now and tomorrow me and my husband are going off to Prague and Salzburg! A lot of fun stuff (except the cold), but not much room to breath. It will be nice to go to Prague and relax. I think it is the tenth time I go there, so there are no musts – we are just going to enjoy being there.
By the way – is anyone interested in seeing pictures from Sweden Rock? It was a great festival and I will probably go back (this was my first time).
Emily de Molly Erratic Behaviour

Jag bar två lager, applikationen var utmärkt och det höll väldigt bra. Jag tog bort det efter fyra dagar och då hade jag bara lite tipwear.

Glisten & Glow After Midnight
Holofredag är tillbaka hos Sminkan och Emma och självklart hakar jag på! Det här lacket köpte jag faktiskt mest för att testa hur Glisten & Glows lack är när jag ändå beställde överlack från dem. (Deras snabbtorkande överlack, det som tidigare hette HK Girl, är riktigt bra.) Jag var, ärligt talat, inte särskilt pepp på deras lack, men klickade hem det här för att det ju aldrig är fel med multikromatiska lack. När jag fick det tappade jag haka lite grann! Det är så mycket finare IRL än vad det ser ut att vara på hemsidan. Färgerna är mer mättade och det har väldigt tydlig multikromatisk effekt och holoskimmer.
After Midnight är alltså både multikromatiskt (skiftar mellan blått, lila och grönt) och holografiskt, en kombination som kan vara knepig att få till utan att den ena effekten dränker den andra, men här funkar det hur bra som helst och lacket är jättevackert i alla ljus. Holot är inte riktigt linjärt, jag skulle kanske mer säga scattered, men det är i alla fall vackert och gnistrigt!
Applikationen var också väldigt bra och det täckte utan problem på två lager.
In English: Holo Friday is back at Sminkan och Emma and I will of course join it! I actually bought this polish mostly to see how the regular polishes from Glisten & Glow are. I was ordering top coat (their quick dry top coat, previously known as HK Girl, is really good) and added this to the shopping basket without too high expectations. Once I got it in my hand I was stunned! It is so much more beautiful IRL than in the picture on the web site! The colours are richer, the multichrome effect is very pronounced and the holo is strong and glittery.
After Midnight is, as I said, both multichromatic (shifting berween blue, purple and green) and holo, a combination that can be a bit tricky. Sometimes one effect drowns out the other, but not here – this is gorgeous in all lights! The holo is not quite linear, I would say that it is more scattered, but it is very sparkly and pretty!
The application was good and it was opaque in two coats.
Idag åker jag förresten hem från USA. Efter att ha varit i New York över helgen så har jag och Karin åkt till Boston, där hon bor. Det har varit en väldigt trevlig resa – mycket sightseeing (igår var jag t ex på valsafari och såg massor av fina valar och delfiner!) och mycket shopping. Det har blivit många besök på Sephora och mycket pengar som har rullat iväg… Skulle ni vara intresserade av ett inlägg om all skönhetsshopping jag har gjort?
I’m going home from the US today. Me and Karin met up in New York and spent the weekend there. We then went to Boston, where she is living, and have been here all week. I have had a very nice trip with lots of sightseeing (I went on a whale watch yesterday and saw lots of whales and dolphins, for example) and shopping. There has been many visits to Sephora and I have spent way too much money… Are you interested in seeing all the beauty shopping I have done?
Holofredag: F.U.N Lacquer Coral Reef
Jag fick gräva lite i arkivet för att hitta ett hololack att visa idag, men det är ju sista holofredagen för i år, och dessutom Emmas födelsedag, så då måste jag ju ändå vara med! Efter lite letande hittade jag den här manikyren som jag bar i februari (därav snön i bakgrunden och det dåliga ljuset), som får bli mitt bidrag. F.U.N Lacquer Coral Reef är ett härligt smaragdgrönt hologlitter med multikromatiska flakies. Fantastiskt fint, faktiskt. Jag bar det nyss på tårna, och det var lika fint där! Jag gillar såna här lack som är fina i flera olika ljus. I solen får man regnbågar så det sprakar om det och i skuggan kan man njuta av färgskiftningarna i flakesen.
Applikationen var bra. Jag målade det som vanligt och det täckte på tre lager.
In English: I had to do a bit of digging in my archive to find a holo to show today, but since it is the last holo friday for this year, and Emma’s birthday to boot, I really have to join! After some looking, I found this mani that I wore in February (hence the snow in the background and the bad lighting conditions), that will be my contribution today. F.U.N Lacquer Coral Reef is a gorgeous emerald green holo glitter with multichromatic flakies. Really beautiful! I wore it on my toes quite recently, and it was very pretty as a pedicure, too. I really like these kinds of polishes that look nice in all lighting conditions. You get sparkling rainbows in the sun and shifting flakies in the shade.
The application was good. I applied it just like a regular polish and it was opaque in three coats.
Holofredag: Emily de Molly Too Many Moves
Holofredag igen, och jag kör vidare med mina Emily de Molly-holosar. Jag köpte ett gäng i våras, så de dominerar bland mina oprövade hololack. Too Many Moves är, liksom The Descent som jag visade förra veckan, ett supervackert multikromatiskt lack med spritt prismatiskt glitter. Det skiftar mellan blått, lila och lite guld, och skiftningarna är väldigt tydliga. Jag bar två lager och det var lätt att applicera.
In English: Holo Friday again, and I keep showing my Emily de Molly holos. I bought a bunch this spring, so they are currently dominating my untried holos. Too Many Moves is, like The Decent that I showed last week, a gorgeous multichrome with scattered prismatic glitters. It shifts between blue, purple and a little gold, and the shifts are very visible. I wore two coats and it applied really well.
Holofredag: Emily de Molly The Descent
Veckans bidrag till holofredag är otroligt vackra The Descent från Emily de Molly. Det är ett multikromatiskt lack som skiftar mellan rött, guld och koppar och som har spridda prismatiska glitter i sig. Jag gillar verkligen kombinationen av prismatiskt glitter i multikromatiska ljus eftersom man då har ett lack som är tjusigt i alla ljus.
Jag bar två lager, och det var lätt att applicera.
In English: This week’s contribution to Holo Friday is the incredibly beautiful The Descent from Emily de Molly. It is a multichromatic polish that shifts between red, yellow and copper and that has scattered prismatic glitters in it. I really like the combination of prismatic glitter and multichrome since it means that it is gorgeous in all lighting conditions.
