Shattered glass nails with OPI CIA = Color is Awesome
Den här manikyren blev jag faktiskt lite kär i. ”Shattered glass nails” (hm, översätts kanske bäst till ”glaskrossnaglar”?) har ju snurrat runt på nätet ett tag, men jag har inte kommit fram till att testa nu. Då jag senast beställde från She Sells Seashells passade jag på att köpa ”rainbow glass paper”, typ iridicerande cellofan, i en förpackning med fem olika färger, som jag använde till den här manikyren. Som bas hade jag OPI CIA = Color is Awesome, som jag har fått som pressprov från höstens Washington DC-kollektion. Det är ett riktigt fint blågrönt krämlack, som nära på täckte på bara ett lager. Jag hade två, mest för att jag tycker att det blir en snyggare yta på lacket med två lager. Formulan var den klassiska OPI-formulan, som många tycker väldigt mycket om. Jag är inte helt förtjust eftersom den ofta vill krypa ner i mina nagelband, men på det stora hela är den ju bra.
Jag förberedde manikyren genom att klippa cellofanet i små, oregelbundna bitar, men såhär i efterhand inser jag att det nog hade blivit ännu snyggare om jag hade klippt mindre bitar. Dessa applicerade jag sedan när lacket fortfarande var lite klibbigt och täckte med två lager överlack. Effekten blev ännu bättre än jag hade trott! Cellofanet skiftar i orange, guld, grönt och blått på ett spektakulärt sätt. Nu blev jag är väldigt sugen på att testa de andra färgerna jag köpte. Dock lär jag mig aldrig att jag ska börja dekorera högerhanden, så jag hinner testa vad som funkar bäst innan jag kommer fram till fotohanden. Givetvis blev jag mest nöjd med höger lillfinger, det sista fingret jag gjorde, så ni får en mobilbild på min högerhand också.
In English: Shattered glass nails have been around for a while now, but I haven’t tried them myself until now. In my latest order from She Sells Seashells, I ordered a package of five different colours of rainbow glass paper, that I used for this manicure. As a base, I wore OPI CIA = Color is Awesome, that I have gotten as a press sample from the Washington DC collection. It is a really nice dark teal creme, that was almost opaque in just one coat. I used two, mostly because I think the finish looks much better after two coats. The formula was the classic for OPI, which I know that many love. It tends to creep into my cuticles, so I am not crazy about it, but it is good enough.
Before I started, I cut the rainbow glass paper into small, irregular pieces. In hindsight, I realize that it would probably have been better with even smaller pieces, but this worked, too. I applied them while the polish was still tacky and covered it with two coats of top coat. The effect was even better than I had thought! The paper shifts between orange, gold, green and blue in a really spectacular way. Now I really want to try out the other colours in the set. I do have to learn some day to start with my right hand, though… That way I would have time to try out what works best before I come to my swatch hand. This time, I am the most happy with my right pinkie, the last finger I did, so you’ll get a cell phone picture of my right hand too.
Nerdlacquer Phasma 2.0
Det blir mycket Nerdlacquer, men det är svårt att undvika eftersom det är mitt favoritmärke och Amanda gör så mycket fina lack (och i ett rasande tempo). Phasma kom med hennes senaste Star Warskollektion, och man fick med en påse med extra glitter (i svart och prismatiskt silver) när man köpte det. Originalversionen har jag visat tidigare, och det här är 2.0 – alltså lacket med tillsatt glitter. Och det är helt ljuvligt faktiskt! Så otroligt glittrigt!
Dekorationen är enkel. Som bas hade jag två lager av det svarta krämlacket OPI Who Are You Calling Bossy?!?, vilket är mitt standardsvarta för tillfället. När det var helt torrt maskade jag av med vinyler från Nail Vinyls och målade på ett lager Phasma 2.0, som faktiskt var förvånansvärt slätt med tanke på hur mycket glitter det är i det. Som en avslutning petade jag dit en strass från Edgy Polish. Jag gillar verkligen den här strassen, den är av riktigt fin kvalitet.
In English: I know I show a lot of Nerdlacquers, but it is hard to avoid since it is my favourite brand and Amanda is releasing so many gorgeous polishes (at an amazing speed). Phasma was released with her latest Star Wars trio, and as a bonus, you get a bag of glitters (in black and prismatic silver) with it. I have shown the original version before, and this is the 2.0 version with the added glitter. And it is really awesome! So incredibly sparkly!
The nail art was simple. I used a base of two coats of the black creme OPI Who Are You Calling Bossy?!?, which is my standard black at the moment. When it was completely dry, I used nail vinyls to create moons and applied one coat of Phasma 2.0, which was surprisingly smooth considering how much glitter it has. I finished it off with a rhinestone from Edgy Polish. I really like these rhinestones, they are of a very good quality.
Depend Rewind 501
Hm, den här manikyren hade jag faktiskt glömt bort! 501 var ett av de första lacken jag bar ur Depends Rewindkollektion. Det är svart i basen med smått lila glitter, som tyvärr har lite svårt att ta sig fram genom den svarta basen. Det ser mest svart ut på nageln, vilket är lite trist. Jag bar två lager av det och det var lite tjockare och svårare att applicera än de andra Dependlacken jag har testat, men fortfarande bra.
Dekorationerna är också från Depend. Folien fäste bra, men limmet till den kommer i en sjukt opraktisk liten tub med en liten pinne att applicera med, så det enda man kan göra med det är egentligen att stryka ut det i oregelbundna stråk. Det är lite synd, för när man har en pensel till sitt lim kan man göra så mycket skoj med nagelfolie. Dekalerna var lite tjocka, vilket gjorde att kanterna syntes efter att de var applicerade, vilket jag tycker är lite sådär. De var också lite för klistriga, vilket gjorde dem svåra att applicera eftersom de sög sig fast väldigt snabbt. På det stora hela tycker jag ändå att det blev en helt ok manikyr, även om jag inte var 100% lycklig över vare sig lacket eller dekorationerna.

In English: Hm, I had actually forgotten about this manicure! 501 was one of the first polishes I wore from the Depend Rewind collection. It consists of a black base with small purple glitters, that unfortunately get a bit drowned in the base. It mostly looks black on the nail, which is a little sad. I wore two coats and it was a little thicker and harder to apply than the other Depend polishes I have, but the application was still good.
The decorations are also from Depend. The foil was easy to apply, but the foil glue comes in a terribly impractical little tube with as stick that you are supposed to use to apply it with, so the only thing you can do is to dab it on unevenly. It is a pity, really. If you get a brush with your nail glue, you can do a lot of fun things with nail art foil. The decals were a bit thick and the edges were visible even after topcoating them. They were also very sticky, which made them a bit difficult to apply since there was no chance at al to move them once they had touched the nail even the slightest. But on the whole, I kinda liked this manicure even if I wasn’t 100% happy with either the polish or the decorations.

Nail Art Sunday: Misslyckad blobbicure med OPI Give me Space och I Drive a Supernova
Vissa manikyrer fastnar i arkivet utan att jag förstår varför, men i andra fall är det ganska tydligt. Den här hör till den senare kategorin, men jag tror på att även visa upp misslyckanden så vi inte allihopa får prestationsångest! 🙂
Lacken är från förra årets julkollektion från OPI, Starlight, och jag har fått dem som pressprover. Give Me Space är ett mörkblått hololack. Det är fint, men holoeffekten är inte särskilt stark och man kan hitta coolare blåa hololack, faktiskt. Sedan hjälpte det knappast att jag bar det här i november förra året och inte hade en chans att se det i sol… Det täckte på tre lager, men var väldigt holosjukt och svårt att få jämnt.
I Drive a Supernova är ett fint silverskimmer. Inte heller det är unikt, men det är fint nog ändå. Det här var mycket lättare att applicera och täckte på tre lager.
Men sedan var det den där dekorationsidén… Jag försökte mig på en blobbicure, men det funkade sådär eftersom IDAS torkade för fort så GMS inte flöt ut ordentligt i det. Det blev mest lite allmänt prickigt, och eftersom ”prickar” är veckans tema på Nail Art Sunday så tänker jag i alla fall passa på att vara med där. (Som sagt, jag tror på att visa upp mina misstag! :-)). Jag tänker lite på en futuristisk rymdkossa när jag ser det här. Men det kanske bara är jag? 😉
In English: Sometimes manicures get stuck in my archive for no known reason and sometimes it is very easy to see the reason. This is one of the latter, but I think it is important to also show failed manicures so that we won’t all get performance anxiety! 🙂
The polishes are from last year’s Christmas collection from OPI, Starlight, and I have gotten them as press samples. Give Me Space is a dark blue holo. It is pretty, but the holo isn’t very strong and there are cooler blue holos out there. It didn’t help that I wore this in November, though. There was no chance of seeing how it looks in the sun… It was opaque in three coats, but the application was like the old holos – very difficult to get even.
I Drive a Supernova is a nice silver shimmer. Not unique at all, but nice enough. This was much easier to apply and was opaque in three coats.
But then there was the nail art… I tried to do a blobbicure, but it didn’t work very well since IDAS dried very quickly so GMS didn’t spread much in it. It mostly got a little spotted, and since ”spots” is this weeks Nail Art Sunday theme, I can at least use it to join this week. (As I said, I believe in showing my mistakes! :-)) This actually makes me think of a futuristic space cow, but maybe that’s just me? 😉
Depend Glam Rock 419 och vattendekaler från Milv
Depend har faktiskt gett ut två snarlika lack med nummer 419 i höst; ett i Glam Rock-kollektionen och ett i Rewindkollektionen. Båda är fina lila skimmerlack, men det jag bär här är det från Glam Rock. Det täckte på två lager och var mycket trevligt att lacka med. Jag har fått det som pressprov.
Som dekor använde jag vattendekaler med silversnirklar från Milv, som jag köpt från Edgy Polish. Applikationen var riktigt bra, och jag gillar att de är en liten aning stretchiga så man kan få dem att ligga fint även på så böjda naglar som jag har. Jag gillar den här manikyren – den var enkel att göra, men blev riktigt fin!
In English: Depend has released two similar polishes with number 419 this autumn; one in the Glam Rock collection and one in the Rewind collection. Both are really pretty purple shimmers, but the one I wear in these pictures is the one from Glam Rock. It was opaque in two coats and really easy to apply. It was sent to me as a press sample.
As a decoration I used water decals from Milv that I have bought from Edgy Polish. The application was very good, and I like how they are just a little bit stretchy, since that makes it easier to apply them to very curved nails like mine. I like this manicure – it was very easy to do, but turned out to be really nice!
Bow Polish Mood Creator
Såhär när det börjar bli kallare ute brukar jag bli sugen på att bära termolack. Det är ju inte så stor vits att bära dem på sommaren, eftersom man nästan jämt är varm då. Nu kan man i alla fall roa sig med att titta på sina naglar om man sitter och fryser på jobbet. 😉
Bow Polish har gjort sig kända för sina termolack, men jag har inte testat något tidigare. Senast jag och Karin beställde från Color4Nails så passade jag därför på att slänga med Mood Creator i ordern. Det är ett ganska skirt lack. Jag har tre lager av det, men det är faktiskt lite ojämnt och hade kunnat ha ett fjärde också. Men det var i alla fall lätt att applicera. I varmt skick är det ljusgrått, men när det blir kallare skiftar det först i rött går sedan över till rödsvart. Något jag inte insåg när jag beställde det är att det faktiskt har lite glest holoskimmer i sig, något som piggar upp det väldigt mycket.
Färgskiftningen är (som ni ser på filmen) väldigt tydlig, men det är ändå inte så känsligt att jag får mörkare tippar. Det är lite synd, för det hade varit coolt. Men så har jag inte jättemycket fri kant heller. Det är dock kul att se hur det skiftar när jag går ut eller om jag tvättar händerna!
Vattendekalerna med katter var av utmärkt kvalitet och är mycket söta, men jag kan tyvärr inte för mitt liv minnas var jag har köpt dem…
In English: When the weather is turning cold in the autumn, I usually feel like using thermo polishes. There is not much use in the summer when my hands are warm most of the time, but at this time of year I can at least be cheered up by my manicure when I am freezing at work. 😉
Bow Polish are well known for making great thermo polishes, but I haven’t tried them before, so I threw in Mood Creator with the order the last time me and Karin ordered from Color4Nails. It is pretty sheer. I am wearing three coats, but it is still a little uneven, so I could have worn four. But at least it was easy to apply, so four coats would have been ok. It is light grey in its warm stage and transitions through red to a dark reddish black as it gets colder. Something I didn’t realize until I had it on my nails is that it actually has a very sparse, but pretty, holo shimmer and this really livens it up a lot.
The shift is (as you can see in the video) very visible, but it is not sensitive enough to make my tips turn darker. However, it is really fun to see my nails switch colour whenever I wash my hands or go outside. And I don’t have that much of a free edge. The tips might transition more visibly if you have a longer free edge on your nail.
The cat water decals were very pretty and of good quality, but I cannot for the life of me remember where I bought them…
Halloweenmanikyr över F.U.N Lacquer Queen
Vi kör väl på med en Halloweenmanikyr till! Jag har faktiskt haft Halloweentema på naglarna i nästan två veckor nu, men det har varit lite för mycket på jobbet för att jag skulle ha ork att blogga, så de kommer ut först nu. Basen till den här manikyren är F.U.N Lacquer Queen, ett supertjusigt prismatiskt metalliskt silverflakie som täcker på två lager utan problem. Nagelvinylerna är från She Sells Seashells (spindelnät och fladdermöss) respektive Loki’s Lacquer (svarta holospindlar). Över spindelnätsvinylerna svampade jag på svarta OPI Who Are You Calling Bossy?!? och mörkgråa Kiko 326. Tanken med att blanda svart och grått var att det skulle se lite dammigt ut, men det blev liksom inget av det och det hade varit bättre med bara svart. Men tja, glammigt blev det ju i alla fall!
In English: So, lets run with another Halloween mani! I have actually had a Halloween theme on my nails for almost two weeks now, but I have had so much at work and not enough energy to blog, so I haven’t gotten around to posting them until now. The base colour for this mani is F.U.N Lacquer Queen, a super fancy prismatic metallic silver flakie that is opaque in two problem-free coats. The nail vinyls are from She Sells Seashells (spiderwebs and bats) and Loki´s Lacquer (black holo spiders). I used the black OPI Who Are You Calling Bossy!?! and the dark grey Kiko 326 over the spiderweb vinyls. The thought with mixing black and grey was to make it look sort of dusty, but that failed and I think it would have been better to stick to only black. But well, it was definitely glam, at least!
Nail Art Sunday: Depend 499 från Rewindkollektionen
Den här veckan är det fritt tema på Lacky Corners Nail Art Sunday, så jag visar den här enkla manikyren som jag bar för ett par veckor sedan. Lacket är nummer 499 från Depends Rewindkollektion, som är ett fint, mörkt olivgrönt krämlack. Jag bar två lager och applikationen var bra, precis som med de andra Dependlacken jag har använt på sistone. Jag satte dit lite nitar också, och tycker det blev en riktigt trevlig manikyr i all sin enkelhet. Jag har fått lacket för recension.
In English: There is no theme for Lacky Corner’s Nail Art Sunday this week, so I am showing you this simple mani that I wore a couple of weeks ago. The polish is number 499 from the Depend Rewind collection, which is a nice dark olive creme. I wore two coats and it was as easy to apply as the other Depend polishes I have worn lately. I added some gold studs and think it was a very nice manicure in all its simplicity. The polish was sent to me for review.
Grön onsdag: Nerdlacquer Brazen och OPI Suzi – The First Lady of Nails
Jag tänkte vara med på Karins gröna onsdag för en gångs skull!
I början av sommaren släppte Nerdlacquer en trio lack (the Metalhead kit) baserade på olika metaller; mässing, koppar och brons. Till att börja med använde hon riktigt metallpulver i lacken, men det funkade inte. Metallen reagerade med lackbasen och lacken ändrade färg och blev tjocka och oanvändbara. Nu har hon gjort om dem och använder nagellackspigment istället. (Med tanke på Mentalityaffären känns det väl egentligen sisådär att hon slänger ner saker i lacken som hon inte har riktigt bra koll på.) Amanda bytte ut alla lack från den ursprungliga batchen som hon hade hunnit sälja, vilket nog inte var så många eftersom hon upptäckte det här rätt snart. Jag hann dock få ett kit med den första versionen eftersom hon var gullig nog att erbjuda mig att köpa dem innan de formellt hade släppts när jag beklagade mig på instagram över att jag inte skulle få dem på ett halvår eftersom Karin, som langar lack från USA till mig, skulle åka hem till Sverige innan de han släppas. Det tycker jag var enormt snällt av henne (jag måste erkänna att jag fangirlade en hel del när hon messade mig om det)!
Det här är alltså den första verisonen av Brazen, som är gjord på riktigt mässingspulver, och det är fantastiskt fint. Det småglittrar på ett rätt speciellt sätt och är lite sådär mysigt, murrigt gulgrönt i färgen. Dekoren gjorde jag med nagelvinyler från She Sells Seashells och OPI Suzi – The First Lady of Nails från Washington DC-kollektionen (som är ett pressprov). Suzi – The First Lady of Nails är ett av de finaste lacken i kollektionen i min mening. Ett riktigt trevligt mellangrönt krämlack med ett litet stänk grått i. Den här manikyren visade jag på Instagram när jag bar den, och She Sells Seashells återpostade den för några dagar sedan och kallade den för ”glittery slime” – vilket ju är en riktigt bra beskrivning! Jag tänkte inte på det när jag gjorde den, men den här manikyren passar ju rätt bra nu när Halloween närmar sig.
In English: For once, I have managed to join Karin’s green Wednesday!
Nerdlacquer released a trio inspired by metals (the Metalhead kit) at the beginning of the summer. The polishes contained real powdered bronze, copper and brass, but that didn’t work out. The metals reacted with the nail polish base and the polishes changed colours and became very thick and goopy. Amanda had to reformulate and use regular nail polish pigments instead. (And considering the Mentality business, I am not quite sure that I think it is such a good idea to experiment that randomly…) She replaced all the polishes that she had sold, but I had gotten the whole kit already since she was kind enough to offer to send it to Karin, who mules for me from the States, before they were actually put up for sale, just because I complained that I would not be able to get them before Karin came home to Sweden for the summer. (I must admit to some fingirling when she messaged me about it!)
So this is the first version of Brazen, with real brass powder, and it is really nice. It glitters in a quite special way and is a very cozy, muted yellowish green. I did the decoration using vinyls from She Sells Seashells and OPI Suzi – The First Lady of Nails from the Washington DC collection (which is a press sample). Suzi – The First Lady of Nails is one of my favourites from the collection, a lovely medium green creme with just a little grey in it. I posted this manicure on Instagram when I wore it and when She Sells Seashells reposted it a few days ago, they described it as a ”glittery slime manicure”, which wasn’t my thought when I made it, but it feels quite right, and appropriate now that Halloween is closing in on us.
CND Vinylux Emerald Lights
Härom veckan fick jag hem pressprover från CNDs julkollektion Starstruck i september. Det kommer bara två Vinyluxlack i kollektionen, det här och ett svart glitter som heter Dark Diamonds, som jag också har fått. (Shellacvarianten av kollektionen innehåller däremot sex lack.) Det här heter Emerald Lights och är ett jättefint smaragdgrönt glitter som täckte på två lager och var lätt att applicera. Det var lite knöligt av glittret, dock, och det behövdes tre lager överlack (jag använde CNDs Weekly Top Coat). Jag gillar det verkligen – det här är precis min kopp te! Det påminner f ö lite om den gamla favoriten China Glaze Emerald Sparkle, fast det här är nog aningens mer blåtonat.
In English: I got some press samples from the CND Winter collection Starstruck the other day. It was launched in September and the Vinylux line consists of only two polishes, this and a black glitter called Dark Diamonds, that I have also gotten. (The Shellac line consists of six polishes.) This is called Emerald Lights and is a really pretty emerald green glitter that was easy to apply and opaque in two coats. The glitters made it a little lumpy, though, so it took three coats of the CND Weekly Top Coat to even it out. I really like this, it is definitely my cup of tea! It does remind me a bit of the old favourite China Glaze Emerald Sparkle, but this is slightly more blue-toned.
