OPI New Orleans
Häromdagen fick jag pressprover på hälften av lacken i OPIs vårkollektion New Orleans hemskickade till mig. Och bäst av allt – ett av dem var det gröna lacket som jag blev jättesugen på när jag såg pressbilderna på kollektionen!
Kollektionen kommer att släppas i slutet av februari och kommer att kosta 155 kr/st som vanligt.
Lacken jag fick var dessa:
The other day I got a package with press samples of half of the polishes in OPIs spring collection New Orleans. And best of all – one of them was the crazy green creme that I fell in love with when I saw the press pictures!
The collection will be released at the end of February and will cost 155 SEK as usual.

OPI No More Mr. Night Sky och Nerdlacquer Phasma
Efter en skön och avslappnande julledighet så fick jag tillbaka lite ork att pyssla med naglarna, och resultatet blev den här manikyren, som jag blev riktigt nöjd med. Jag började med tre till fyra lager No More Mr. Night Sky från OPIs Starlightkollektion. Det var tjockt och inte helt lätt att få jämnt, men värt det i slutändan eftersom det är väldigt snyggt! I flaskan såg det inte så märkvärdigt ut, men det är mörkgrått med massor av skimmer och jag trivdes bra i det. (Jag har fått det som pressprov.)
Efter att ha burit det ensamt så piffade jag upp det med Phasma, från Nerdlacquers senaste Star Warskollektion. Det verkar faktiskt som att Amanda är tillbaka på riktigt nu, för hon spottar ur sig massor av nya lack och verkar också skicka ut ordrar utan några problem. Jättekul! Phasma är ett glittrigt silverholo. Det är väldigt fint, men grundversionen är inte sådär att jag trillar av stolen. Det roliga är dock att hon skickade med en liten påse glitter som man kan hälla i sin flaska efter att man har använt upp en del av den. Jag har dekanterat lite, så efter den här manikyren hällde jag i glittret och jävlar i min lilla låda vad det ser snyggt ut! Jag har dock inte testat det på naglarna än, så bilder kommer senare.
För att göra manikyren använde jag vinylmallar från Snail Vinyls och strass från Edgy Polish.
In English: After a long time off during Christmas, I got some nail art inspiration back, which resulted in this manicure. The base is three to four coats of OPI No More Mr Night Sky from the Starlight collection. (Which I have gotten as a press sample.) It was a bit thick and difficult to get even, but the effort payed off since it’s a really nice polish! It is a dark grey with lots of shimmer in it. It doesn’t look that much in the bottle, but it was better on the nail and I liked it a lot.
After wearing it alone for a while, I pimped it with Phasma, one of the polishes from the new Star Wars collection from Nerdlacquer. Amanda seems to be back for real now. She makes lots of new polishes and there doesn’t seem to be any problems ordering anymore. 🙂 Phasma is a glittery silver holo. It is lovely, but the basic version is not extraordinary. However, I got a small baggie of glitters with it, and after decanting some of it and using it for this mani, I dumped the glitter in the polish. And the upgraded Phasma is just gorgeous! Such a glitter party! I haven’t worn it yet, though, so you’ll have to wait for a while before I can show it to you.
To make this mani I used nail vinyls from Snail Vinyls and rhinestones from Edgy Polish.

OPI By the Light of the Moon
Det finns flera fina lack i OPIs nya Starlightkollektion, men också några bottennapp – det här är ett av dem. Det är faktiskt helt bedrövligt fult. Tanken är väl kanske god, för jag antar att de har tänkt sig att blinga till ett kromlack med lite extra glitter, men resultatet är ett strimmigt och knöligt elände. Glittret dränks i krombasen så det bara blir ojämnt och fult. Det enda positiva jag har att säga om det är att det täckte på två lager och var lätt att applicera. Men det fick inte sitta längre på mina naglar än att jag hann fota det…
Jag har fått det för recension, och som ni kanske kan lista ut har inte det påverkat mina åsikter om det. 😛
There are several nice polishes in the new OPI Starlight collection, but this really isn’t one of them. I think it is quite awful, actually. The idea might have been good – to add some extra bling to a chrome with some silver glitters – but the result is just streaky and lumpy. The chrome base drowns the glitter so it just looks uneven and horrible. The only good I can say about it is that it was easy to apply and was opaque after two coats. But it didn’t stay longer on my nails than it took to photograph it.
I have gotten this for review, and as you might have understood, that didn’t influence my opinion of it. 😛
OPI Sorry I’m Fizzy Today
Nä, det här inlägget har legat i arkivet i ett år nu, så det är banne mig dags att publicera det! Rosa är ju inte en färg som inspirerar mig, kan man säga, och detsamma gäller det här lacket. Jag fick det med Icons of Happiness-kollektionen för recension. Det är ett barbierosa krämlack. Ganska lättapplicerat, men flammigt och krävde fyra lager för att bli hyggligt jämnt. Tja, så mycket mer än så har jag inte att säga om det. Men nu har jag i alla fall postat det. 😛
This post has been laying around in my archive for a year now, so it is really time to get it published! Pink isn’t exactly a colour that inspires me, and that goes for this polish too. I got it for review and it is from the Icons of Happiness-kollektionen. It’s a Barbie pink creme. It was quite nice to apply, but it took four coats to get it even. Well, I don’t have that much more to say about it , but at least I’ve posted it now! 😛
Mera lek med OPI Color Paints
Hm, mitt arkiv är lite ogenomträngligt för tillfället (eller, ärligt talat, så har det varit det rätt länge). Här är ännu en manikyr som jag borde ha postat för länge sedan… Jag lekte lite med OPIs Color Paints, deras nageldekorskoncept som släpptes i juli. (Min tidigare lek med lacken kan ni se här.) Det består av ett silverkromlack, Silver Canvas, och ett antal transparenta lack som man kan lägga över för att skapa olika effekter. Här grundade jag med ett lager Silver Canvas och gjorde sedan lite eldsflammor med Magenta Muse, Chromatic Orange och Primarily Yellow. Det blev rätt ok, om jag får säga det själv.
Jag har fått alla de här lacken för recension.
My archive is a bit too full at the moment (or rather it has been for quite a while…) Here is another manicure that I should have posted long ago. I had been playing a bit with OPI’s new nail art concept, Color Paints, that was released in July. (You can see my previous play with these polishes here.) It consists of a silver chrome and a couple of transparent polishes to put on top of it. Here I have one coat of Silver Canvas and followed it with flames with Magenta Muse, Chromatic Orange and Primarily Yellow. It turned out quite ok, if I may say so myself.
All of these polishes were given to me for review.
OPI I’m in the Moon for Love
Det andra lacket jag bar från OPIs kommande julkollektionen Starlight var I’m in the Moon for Love, ett rödlila skimmer som jag tyckte riktigt bra om. Det såg ärligt talat inte så spännande ut i flaskan, men har ett fint skimmer som gör att det lyfter lite på nageln. Jag bar två lager av det och var inte jätteimpad av formulan eftersom det var lite rinnigt och svårkontrollerat. (Jag har fått det för recension.)
Kristaller som jag dekorerade med är från Edgy Polish och de var verkligen superfina! Många såna här kristaller tappar mycket av gnistret när man lägger på överlack, men inte de här! De var väldigt gnistriga och vackra även med överlack! Och dessutom var de rätt billiga – en hel låda med olika storlekar kostade bara 65 kr. Jag är helnöjd!
The second polish I wore from OPIs Christmas collection Starlight was I’m in the Moon for Love, a reddish purple shimmer that I liked more than I had thought I would. It honestly didn’t look that interesting in the bottle, but it has a very pretty shimmer that made it come alive on the nail. I wore two coats but the formula was a little runny and hard to control. (It was given to me for review.)
The crystals are from Edgy Polish and they are really awesome! Most rhinestones lose much of their glitter when you add top coat, but not these! The sparkled like mad, even after top coat. They were also quite cheap – only 65 SEK for a whole box of different sizes. I am really happy with them!
OPI The Center of the You-niverse
Är någon förvånad över att det svarta lacket är det första från OPIs Starlightkollektion att hamna på mina naglar? Nä, trodde väl inte det… 🙂
Det här är ett sånt där ovanligt lack som faktiskt är finare på nageln än i flaskan. I flaskan ser det bara ut som ett svart lack i största allmänhet, men på nageln har det ett väldigt fint skimmer. Det består av en svart halvopak bas med små svarta glitter och silverskimmer. Det var lätt att applicera. Två lager hade troligen räckt, men jag hade tre eftersom jag hade slarvat lite så det var lite tunt på sina ställen. Trots att det är så pass mycket glitter i det så är det ändå väldigt slätt och fint. Jag gillar det verkligen och jag hade faktiskt inget liknande i min samling tidigare!
Jag har fått det som pressprov och kollektionen kommer att släppas i mitten av november.
Men det bästa med den här manikyren är ju ändå dinosaurierna! Jag blev lite lycklig när jag hittade de här dinosauriedekalerna hos YouPolish. Jag menar, man måste ju älska dinosaurier! Dessutom var dekalerna tunna och fina och bra att applicera. Något jag gillade med YouPolish var också att man kan välja olika färger på dekalerna, det är lite ovanligt.
Anyone surprised that the first polish from the OPIs Starlight collection to end up on my nails was the black one? No, didn’t think so… 🙂
This is something as unusual as a polish that actually looks better on the nail than in the bottle. In the bottle it just looks like any old black polis, but on the nail it has a really lovely silver shimmer. It consists of a black semi-opaque base with small black glitters and silver shimmer. Application was good. Two coats would probably have been enough, but I was a little sloppy and had to wear three to cover some bald spots. And despite the amount of glitter in it, it is really very smooth and nice. I really like it and it is actually unique in my collection!
It was given to me as a press sample and the collection will be released in the middle of November.
But the best thing about this manicure must be the dinosaurs! I became really happy when I found these dinosaur decals at YouPolish. I mean, you have to love dinosaurs! That the decals were really thin and nice to apply didn’t hurt either. I also liked that you can choose between a lot of colours of your decals at YouPolish. That is not very common.
OPI Starlight 2015
På OPI-eventet för ett par veckor sedan fick jag hela julkollektionen Starlight med mig hem i goodiebagen. Jag tycker det är en riktigt fin kollektion, men det är lite synd att det inte finns ett endaste lack i grönt eller guld. Jag får mer nyårsvibbar än julvibbar av den. Det är dock trevligt att det är ett rimligt antal röda lack, som dessutom alla är klart olika. (OPI har ju en tendens att släppa urtiburton röda lack som ser rätt lika ut i sina julkollektioner.) De flesta av lacken är riktigt fina, och det finns några höjdare. De släpps i mitten av november och kommer att kosta 155 kr styck.
At the OPI-event a couple of weeks ago I got the whole Christmas collection Starlight with me home. It is a really nice collection, but it is a pity that there isn’t a single gold or green in the whole collection. I get more of a New Years Eve-vibe than a Christmassy feeling from it. It is nice, thought, that there aren’t too many similar reds (OPI does have a tendency to include a lot of reds in their Christmas collections). Some of the polishes are very pretty, and a few of them are really great! They will be released in the middle of November and will cost 155 SEK each.

Press * for Silver – not really a silver at all, but a silvery pink. Not my favourite of them all…
I’m in the Moon for Love – a lovely reddish purple with a discreet shimmer that actually shows more on the nail than in the bottle. I’m wearing this at the moment and I love it!
Love is in my Cards – a classic red creme. Not very exciting, but not bad either. It might be a bit too yellowish to play well with my skin tone, though.
Ro-Man-Ce on the Moon – really nice medium red shimmer.
Let your Love Shine – one of my favourites in the collection, a rich, dark red shimmer. Yum! (And, unbelievably, unique in my collection!)
Guys & Galaxies – a very dark red creme. More Halloween than Christmas, but I really don’t mind that.
Infrared-y to Glow – strangely shaped pink and gold glitters together with small prismatic silver glitters.
Two Wrongs Don’t Make a Meteorite – the same pink glitters as in Infrared-y to Glow, but paired with dark grey rhomboidal glitters and small gold glitters. I don’t really understand why they included two very similar glitter polishes in the same collection. I am not overly excited about any of them.
Ce-Less-Tial is More – warm silvery pink textured glitter (although not marked as a Liquid Sand polish). I actually like this, despite it being pink!
Super Star Status – the silver twin of Ce-Less-Tial is More. You can’t really go wrong with a textured silver glitter. In my picture it looks like the glitter in it is gold, but it doesn’t look like that IRL.
By the Light of the Moon – this feels like a good idea gone wrong. It is a silver chrome polish with silver glitters in it, but the glitters are drowned by the base so it just looks lumpy. I hope it will look better on the nail than on my swatch stick (I will just use one coat over a silver base), but I doubt it.
Is this Star Taken? – I am a bit on the fence about this one. It is a silver chrome with small prismatic silver bars. If you look closely it looks lumpy, but from a distance it sparkles in a delightful way. I think I might like it after all!
Comet Closer – a very warm toned silver, almost gold, but not quite. Quite nice and unusual.
I Drive a Supernova – another silver polish. Ok, silvers are nice, but I feel that OPI has done a lot of similar silver polishes lately.
Give Me Space – a lovely medium blue linear holo. Not the strongest holo effect, but still very pretty. This is actually the only polish my husband liked in the collection, but he’s really not that interested in polish. (And just that he had an opinion at all was more or less sensational!)
Cosmo with a Twist – in the bottle it looks like a dark blue-purple duochrome, but on my swatch stick the duochrome effect disappears and it just looks like a dark blue. I hope it will be better as a full manicure.
No More Mr. Night Sky – dark charcoal grey shimmer. Really nice!
The Center of the You-niverse – black base with small black glitters and silver shimmer. This is really my cup of tea! It is much better on the nail than it looks to be in the bottle. I have worn this as a full manicure so I will post better pictures soon.
So – what do you think about the collection? Yay or nay?
Lansering av OPI Starlight
I förra veckan var jag på lansering av OPIs julkollektion Starlight. Mycket trevligt event, och kollektionen ser riktigt fin ut! (Fast jag saknar att det inte finns med några lack i grönt eller guld… ) Kollektionen kommer att släppas i mitten av november och består av hela 18 lack. Jag fick med mig allihopa hem, så det kommer att komma lite bilder på dem allteftersom. Fast eftersom jag tänkte försöka vara lite försiktig med mina naglar numera och inte byta lack så ofta, samt ha nakna dagar emellanåt för att riktigt mätta klorna med olja, så kommer det nog att ta ungefär till nästa jul innan jag hinner använda alla. 😛
Jag skriver resten av posten på engelska eftersom jag känner mig lite för lat för att orka översätta allt. Hoppas det är ok. Jag tror faktiskt att någon/några av mina icke-svensktalande studenter kollar in min blogg ibland, så nu känns det lite mer motiverat att skriva på engelska.
Last week I went to the launch of OPIs Christmas collection Starlight. It will be released in the middle of November and contains 18 polishes, mostly silvers, reds and blues. I am a little disappointed that there is no gold or green in the bunch, but all in all it is a nice collection with some really pretty polishes. I have gotten all of them for review, so there will be pictures eventually. However, I am trying to be nicer to my nails now and not change polishes that often – and have naked nails once in a while to saturate them with oil – so it will probably take until next Christmas or so to go through them all. 😛
These OPI cupcakes was the first thing to meet us. They looked delicious, but I was told that they contained licorice, that I hate, so I didn’t taste any. Those who did (and who didn’t share my aversion to licorice) said that they were really good!
Goody bags! Sparkling silver goody bags! Beside the whole Starlight collection, we also got a blingy bracelet from Swarowski, that is collaborating with OPI on this collection. Nice!

There was of course a presentation by Ulrica from Goodpr as well. The focus was on nail art, which I think is really nice! The interest for nail art has really increased the last years! I felt a little alone in it when I started blogging in 2010 and now it feels like everyone is a nail artist! 🙂
They had done different nail arts on all the girls from Goodpr and Newly Polished that were there and did live demonstrations with a camera connected to the screen to show off the manicures to all of us. Cool idea!
They are releasing a lot of different kits in connection with the collection, and in these you can get Swarowski crystals or temporary tattos, that look really nice. Unfortunately, the crystals and tattoos will only be sold separately in salons, which is too bad for me. I would have liked to try them, but I won’t buy polishes I already have for it. (I don’t think there are any salons selling OPI products in Uppsala, where I live.)
As every year, they are also releasing a mini kit with the best OPI selling polishes. This year they have included two new polishes; Do You Have This Color in Stockholm? and That’s Hula-rious!.
Of course they are also releasing a mini kit with polishes from the Starlight collection as well.
You could also get your nails done with polishes from the collection. I didn’t want to remove the nail art I already wore, so I didn’t do it. Instead I went shopping with Emma from Sminkan och Emma and Emelie from Krex. Then I met up with Lina from Make it Fab, who had stayed on to get a manicure, and took the train home with her. (It was really nice to meet her as well! We used to work in the same building and talked about nail polish at a regular basis, but she has started working in another place so I rarely see her any more.)
And to be quite honest, the best part of these events is meeting all the other nail and beauty bloggers! They are such a nice bunch of people!
Bröllopsnaglar
Andra maj i år gifte sig min svägerska, och jag fick nöjet att fixa både hennes och svärmors naglar. Ingen av dem bär någonsin nagellack annars (jag har nog aldrig sett dem med lack på de snart 13 år jag har varit ihop med min man), och jag tycker det är lite extra roligt då. Särskilt när svärmor valde ett knallgrönt lack! 🙂
Bruden fick en diskretblingig manikyr bestående av tre lager OPI I Only Drink Champagne med en gradient av Lynnderella Change. Enkelt, men riktigt fint!
Brudens mor fick tre lager OPI My Gecko Does Tricks, från Hawaiikollektionen. Det har jag fått för recension, men faktiskt inte hunnit bära själv än. Jag blingade till det med lite strass också.
En sak som jag tänkte på när jag lackade deras naglar är hur lika deras nagelform är. Det är verkligen stark genetik involverad i det. Det är samma sak för mig och min mamma, vi har också väldigt lika nagelform, vilket ni kan se på bilderna på mammas händer här. Är det så för er också?
In May this year, my sister-in-law got married, and I got the pleasure to do both her and my mother-in-law’s nails. None of them ever wear nail polish (I don’t think I have ever seen them wear polish in the almost 13 years I have been together with my husband), and that makes it even more fun – especially since my mother-in-law was bold enough to choose a bright green polish! 🙂

The mother of the bride wore three coats of OPI My Gecko Does Tricks, from the Hawaii collection. I have gotten it for review, but I haven’t gotten around to wearing it myself. I added some rhinestones for a little extra sparkle.
ONe thing that hit me when I did their nails was how similar their nail shape are. It is the same for me and my mom, which you can see in the photos here. Is it the same for you and your moms?
